HUMANOID ROBOTS

Humanoid robot is a robot that resembles humans in terms of physical features. AI plays a major role in deciphering commands, statements and questions asked to the humanoid and also random human ramblings at times. It also empowers them to give witty and sarcastic replies. Android refers to males and gynoid is the term for female robots.

Building a humanoid robot:

 A thorough study of human anatomy and understanding the behaviors of mimicking.

·         Determine the purpose of creating humanoid and listing tasks it needs to achieve.

Five humanoid robots you must know:

·         Nadine:

Nadine, a customer service agent at AIA Singapore is a humanoid robot developed by Kokoro Japan with her software platform developed at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. She is well built-in with 3D depths cameras, a microphone, and a webcam. Along with responding to customers and greeting them, she can also converse in 6 different languages.

·         Sophia:

One of the most popular robots, Sophia is officially a citizen of Saudi Arabia. Resembling features of Audrey Hepburn, a famous Hollywood actress, Sophia has appearances in several shows. Mr Hanson of Hanson Robotics is her creator and believes that Sophia can successfully assist old and manage crowds in events. She uses Machine Perception to successfully interact with humans.

·         Erica:

Erica is a news anchor from japan developed by Hiroshi Ishiguro. She cannot walk but she is capable of interacting with humans and changing facial expressions with the conversation. Erica incorporates 15 inbuilt infrared sensors speech-generation algorithms, facial recognition technology, and forty-four degrees of freedom.

·         Jia Jia:

Jia Jia is created by a team from the University of Science and Technology of China. Jia Jia is known as the most beautiful woman in China. She is also known for her conversations with humans as she is successful in catching different gestures and emotions. She has speech-generation algorithms and facial recognition technology 

·         Junko Chihira:

A creation of Toshiba she is a tourist guide in japan successful in greeting and interacting with tourists in three languages. She derives this from speech synthesis technology and natural language processing inbuilt in her. Kanae Chihira, her advanced version can be trained to speak in any language

Facebook Smart Glasses Coming ‘Sooner Than Later’ Without AR

Facebook’s smart glasses will let users record the world around them, and take pictures. Facebook says its first pair of consumer “smart glasses” will be releasing next year as a branded Ray-Ban product , CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced during the opening keynote of its all-virtual Facebook Connect conference.
